G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) are molecular systems that allow cells to sense
and respond to their external environment. They are fundamental to the evolution of
animals and control a vast number of physiological and pathological processes, from
neurological diseases and cancer to chronic and infectious diseases. We will discuss
our contribution to GPCR research, specifically how we've used artificial intelligence
algorithms to predict their transduction and signaling mechanisms across the entire
human genome, starting from GPCR sequences and structures. We will also discuss
about the role of GPCRs in cancer, with a particular emphasis on the interaction
networks between the tumor and its microenvironment, with the overarching goal to
identify new therapeutic approaches in oncology, through the repositioning the approved
GPCR drugs
